Thankfully, there were no casualties on the Alexander McQueen runway as the models all walked the catwalk with head masks. How those girls did it is beyond me, but that’s why they get paid the big bucks.

Sarah Burton unveiled her 2012 Spring/Summer ready-to-wear collection for Alexander McQueen during Paris Fashion Week and to no surprise her collection got rave reviews.

This was Sarah’s third collection for the fashion house and it is being said that she brought “fragility and femininity to the catwalk.”

What you saw during the show was a lot of ruffles, form-fitting jackets, and silvery and pink dresses with a lot of sharp tailoring.

All these designers seemed to have been inspired by the sea this season, because just like Lagerfeld, Burton’s show was underwater fantasy as the models were transformed into mermaid warriors.

Burton didn’t change up too much of McQueen’s style. Even though she brought a lot of feminity to the collection, she also stayed true to Alexander McQueen’s darker and more menacing undertone by having black vinyl with cream lace in a gown.

"I do believe there's a little less of an angst when I see this collection," said Ken Downing, fashion director for U.S. department store Neiman Marcus. "I think because it's in the hands of a woman, we see a little more of a feminine spirit." Sarah lost her good friend and mentor Alexander McQueen and she designed Kate Middleton’s wedding gown in April so it’s safe to say that she has had an intense 18 months. The good news is that no one would ever know because the collection was so flawless.

"What you saw tonight, the brilliance behind the fantasy and the beauty of the show has nothing to do with that," said Salma Hayek after the show, referring to the now-infamous wedding dress.

"I think she's already moved on from that. It's gone somewhere else. It was very unexpected. It was amazing."

What would be really cool is if Kate Middleton actually showed up to watch the runway show. But the Duchess is totally too busy for going to silly fashion shows. What she does, I’m not exactly sure, but she’s realllllly busy. Ok!
