Salma Hayek: Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen is "Mind Blowing"
February 21, 2012 by: MADISON VANDERBERG

The brand has been helmed by creative director Sarah Burton and she’s obviously doing a phenomenal job. The collection began with a series of military-inspired looks for men and women with thick wool coats in hunter green and khaki, large belted waists, fur collars and floral detailing.
After a series of distressed leather jackets, baggy wool dresses in black and white, the collection took a turn into a punk rock, Irish esthetic with blue plaids and men in kilts.
Finally the show wrapped up with a series of dainty, demure, and goth inspired dresses in rich velour fabric, fur, lace detailing, and one tulle dress that seems to be created entirely with flowers.
While most of the fashion world was impressed, one person who was definitely stunned by the presentation was actress Salma Hayek who sat front row and revealed, “the show was truly sensational – really, really amazing. Sarah Burton set the bar really high – it makes me nervous it is so good. It was so mind-blowingly extraordinary – every single piece – and very wearable.”
I can see Lady Gaga wearing some of those floral dresses. I can see Evan Rachel Wood, Blake Lively, or Zooey Deschanel wearing any of the dainty velvet dresses, the whole collection was indeed very wearable, which is unusual for the Alexander McQueen brand whose mainline creations are more art than fashion usually.
