NYFW: Alice + Olivia Spring/Summer 2013 Collection
The wide eyed and big grins sentimentality of the 1950s was the inspiration for Stacey Bendet’s party girl designs in the current Alice + Olivia collection.

It’s a geometric coloring book of flirty retro shapes—floor length skirts, sweetheart corsets, cropped pants, summer shorts, and maxis brought to chrome-tastic hues like mint green, peach, coral, and canary.

This presentation included models posing on vintage furniture of the era. Whimsical prints that left an impression included a splash paint dress, a striped strapless number, a cherry blossom frock, and, of course, polka dots all around.

Basically if you ever miss an episode of Mad Men you can just glance through this collection to catch up.

But it wasn’t all Homage 101. There was a chiffon halter gown, white peplum frock with black lace, and a beaded beige dress that brought the sexy back to this decade.

Also note that there was yet again more of that black and white color blocking which is proving to be this year’s trend at New York Fashion Week for next season.

Celebrities caught spying the line were Lauren Conrad, Natasha Bedingfield, Kelly Bensimon, and, what do you know… Mad Men actress Elizabeth Moss.

Alice + Olivia also launched a handbag collection this time around with three styles. The Olivia is a classic standard bag, the D bag is for the ever mobile professional women on the go, and the See bag which is the most utilitarian, is able to move back and forth between either ocassion.
