The strapless red and white dress worn by the late Amy Winehouse for the cover art for her “Back to Black” album was just auctioned off for $67,000 in London yesterday.

The dress was designed by Thailand-based designer Disaya, and was purchased by the Foundation Museo de la Moda in Chili.

The proceeds from the sale of dress all went to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, created by Amy’s family. According to a statement on their website, the Amy Winehouse foundation, “has been set up in Amy’s memory to support charitable activities in both the UK and abroad that provide help, support or care for young people, especially those who are in need by reason of ill health, disability, financial disadvantage or addiction.”

Amy’s dad was at the auction and told CBS News, “We are just over the moon and this is a wonderful start to the foundation.”

The dress was sold at the Kerry Taylor Auction among other dresses worn by Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn. The dress was estimated to sell for only $32K, well exceeding it’s asking price.

“Over the years I have sold many highly valuable couture pieces related to celebrities and style icons, including the Duchess of Windsor, Audrey Hepburn and Princess Diana. In my opinion, what makes this particular dress so special, is that is an emblematic reminder of the magic voice and sublime talent of Amy Winehouse – a sound that resonates with an entire generation and always will,” says auction house proprietor Taylor.

Amy’s first posthumous album will release on December 5th. The album is titled “Lioness: Hidden Treasure” and will feature 12 tracks of unreleased songs, alternate versions of hits and brand new tracks.

One of the songs is a demo version of “Valerie” that is much more mellow than the original. A new song called “Between the Cheats” and of course the Tony Bennett duet, “Body and Soul.”

There’s another song on the album called “Halftime” that she was working on before she died and her father describes the song as “just incredibly beautiful.”

The album was compiled by Amy’s longtime friends and collaborators Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi. The duo feels as if they’ve compiled “a collection of songs that deserved to be heard, a collection of songs that were a fitting testament to Amy the artist and, as importantly, Amy their friend."

But fans of Winehouse’s music need not worry. According to Island Records, "If the family had felt that this album wasn't up to the standard of 'Frank' and 'Back To Black' we would never have agreed to release it and we believe it will stand as a fitting tribute to Amy's musical legacy.”
