Trends From the 2012 Met Gala
They call the Met Gala, the “fashion Oscars” but it is far more glamorous than the Oscars and the fashion ranges from safe and subtle, to demure and chic, to crazy and catwalk. We’ve rounded up the standout trends from this years 2012 Met Gala.

Capes:

Gwyneth Paltrow started the cape trend with the white Tom Ford cap gown she wore to the 2012 Oscars. Clearly the trend has caught on.

Lana Del Rey: Lana wore a silver Joseph Altuzarra dress with a black cape. Lana walked the red carpet with the designer, who said the look is the “embodiment of her music.”
2012 Met Gala Best Dressed
The Met Gala is the fashion world’s answer to the Oscars. The style is more daring, the attendees come from every inch of the entertainment world, and overall it’s just so much more fabulous than the Oscars.

This year’s Costume Institute Gala Benefit is celebrating the opening of the Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibition and the whole event is co-chaired by Carey Mulligan, Vogue editor Anna Wintour and designer Miuccia Prada

Here are the Best Dressed Stars from the 2012 Met Gala:

Camilla Belle: The young actress looked lovely in a Ralph Lauren Collection ivory tulle beaded dress with champagne python sandals. She looks like she was painted in gold flakes.

Scarlet Johansson: I wish Johansson had put more effort into her hair, but her Dolce & Gabbana dress is ah-mah-zing. This one-of-a-kind gown was made of a bustier embroidered with gold thread and pearls and a nude colored long tulle skirt.

Sarah Burton Lied to Anna Wintour about Kate Middleton
This is a very confusing story, but Sarah Burton, Anna Wintour and Kate Middleton are all in the headline, so I’m having a bit of a fever dream, omigod.

A year ago, Sarah Burton designed the Royal wedding dress for Kate Middleton, do you remember that? Of course you do, what am I talking about! Anyways, when Sarah Burton was designing the dress she had to keep it super top secret so the entire Alexander McQueen collection she showed last march was full of white and ivory wedding-style dresses.
Loose talk with Jean Paul Gaultier: Anna Wintour is "Monstrous"
Jean Paul Gaultier, the former creative director of Hermes, just publicly insulted Anna Wintour.

Here's exactly what Paul Gaultier said about Voque's editor in chief, Anna Wintour.

In an interview with The Independent, Gaultier was talking about his favorite fashion films and of course "The Devil Wears Prada" came up in discussion. Though he thinks that Meryl Streep who portrayed an Anna Wintour-like character played it too nice.

"Anna Wintour is a lot more monstrous than she is described!" says Gaultier.

And then when the journalist asked if she was a positive figure in fashion, he just responded, "She is a figure."

Anna Wintour, the fame editor-in-chief of American Vogue wants to nab Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, for the cover of Vogue America. Wintour is trying to use Mario Testino to persuade the Duchess to model for the mag.

Famed photographer Testino shot Kate and William’s engagement photos and Wintour thinks he can change Kate's mind and pose for the mag.

"Anna has been speaking to Mario about winning over Catherine. She is really pressing him to shoot Catherine for the cover," a source tells the NY Post's Page Six.

However, many mags have been trying to get Kate Middleton as their cover girl but the Royal lady has yet to appear on any publication's cover.
Karl Lagerfeld and Snoop Dogg to Star in a Rap Video Together
File this under "weirdest fashion collaborations ever," Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld is appearing a rap music video with Snoop Dogg. No, Snoop isn't teaching Lagerfeld how to blow smoke rings or "drop it like it's hot."

Women's Wear Daily reports that Lagerfeld made an early morning appearance at the San Tropez cafe Senequier to film a bit for the music video of a French recording artist Jean-Roch Pedri. Jean-Roch recorded the song with Snoop Dogg, who also appears in the video. The song is called "St-Tropez" and Lagerfeld appears in the video wearing head-to-toe white, because that is his "weekend" outfit.
Who Rocked The Frock: Anna Wintour or Anna Wintour?
Who would ever think that the woman who runs one of the most powerful fashion magazines would do such a thing as wear the same dress at two red carpet events. And I'm not talking about one day, two events.

Anna Wintour wore this green colored dress to the Webby Awards last month and committed a fashion no-no by wearing it again last night at the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 premiere in London.
Is Lady Gaga Really a Fashion Icon?
Lady Gaga was named CFDA Fashion Icon at the Council of Fashion Designers of America annual fashion awards in NYC last night.

I guess meat dresses and Kermit the Frog frocks are haute couture, because Lady Gaga was honored this year with the Fashion Icon award.

Gaga was wearing her usual towering platform shoes, a custom Thierry Mugler bustier, and taking a cue from Nicki Minaj was wearing an aqua blue bob wig.

Fashion World Pay Tribute to McQueen
The fashion world reunited on Monday to pay tribute to the late Alexander McQueen during London Fashion Week.

Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Sarah Jessica Parker, who were all dressed in the nines attended the service to pay tribute to the late designer at London's St Paul's Cathedral. Fashion god Anna Wintour, who happened to be McQueen's first employer let the eulogies during the service.

Sources say it was a very emotional hour-long service remembering the designer, who committed suicide seven months ago.

Reverend Canon Giles Fraser told the congregation: “We give thanks for his creative mind, his showmanship, and for his capacity to shock.” He also touched on McQueen's troubled past saying, “It was a life lived in the public gaze, but it was as vulnerable and retiring as it was glamorous.”

An emotional SJP, who was wearing McQueen told reporters: ”It was beautiful and so memorable. I wouldn't have missed it for the world.”

Sad that someone so talented would cut his own life so short. RIP McQueen!
