2012 Golden Globes Worst Dressed List

Sarah Michelle Gellar: The sky is falling and it landed on Sarah Michelle Gellar’s dress. As one of the first people to walk the red carpet this evening, I can’t help but wonder why she was actively trying to show this thing off? The dress, designed by Monique Lhullier, was a white gown with blue splatter pant that looked like a tie-dye experiment gone wrong.
Zooey Deschanel: According to Deschanel’s stylist, this dress was supposed to be god’s gift to dress-kind, but this custom Prada gown just wasn’t doing it for me. The lime green beading on the bodice was weird and the gown had no movement and looked like lycra. I know Zooey is supposed to be “adorkable” but c’mon, this is a red carpet, let’s get it together.
Salma Hayek: I didn’t love Salma Hayek’s Gucci gown. It was kind of Cher-ish? Like, Cher would have been all about this dress at an MTV awards show in 1989. The gown was pleated, it might have even been sequined? Also, it featured a very tiny bodice that should have been a size larger.
Reese Witherspoon: The dress wasn’t bad, per se, but it was a little bit “Jessica Rabbit.” Witherspoon’s hair was also au naturel and probably should have been more tailored for this red carpet affair.
Amy Poehler: Ohh, my funny ladies, I want you to dress good so badly, but sadly Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler was a miss tonight. Wearing a dress that was nearly identical to the one she wore to the Emmy’s, she just changed up the color. In what I can only describe as a gold body suit gown, I can’t tell if Amy is ready to go body surfing or model for a sparkly nightgown collection.
Tilda Swinton: Usually Tilda Swinton wears a pant suit to her red carpet affairs, but this time she seemed torn between wearing a gown and wearing a suit so she paired a pale blue jacket with a fish tail gown and train. Uhhh, it’s like the mullet of dresses: business in the front, party in the back.
