Fashion Recap From the 2011 Bambi Awards
The stars were out and dressed to the nines at something called the Bambi Awards. Apparently the Bambi Awards is an annual ceremony to hand out golden Bambi statues to stars and celebrities that have “affected and inspired the German public.”

For reasons unknown, this awards ceremony is named after a deer-like creature. Let’s just focus on the fashion.

Here are the highlights from the red carpet at the Rhein-Main-Hallen in Wiesbaden, Germany last night. Because this was Germany’s main fashion show, some of the names you might not recognize, but their style is still stunning.

Lady Gaga: Of course Gaga would not be dressed as a human being and so at the Bambi awards she did not disappoint, if by being disappointed you of course mean, Gaga dressed nicely in something that other women would also find attractive. Gaga wore a gold and feather ensemble by the late great Alexander McQueen. McQueen designs seem more appropriate in a museum, but Gaga managed to squeeze into the gold gilded bodice and gunmetal skull cap.

Gwyneth Paltrow: The usually drab Paltrow stunned on the red carpet in a sequined green Elie Saab gown. She wore her blonde lock stick straight and paired the dress with glittering Adler necklace and chunky ring.

Shermine Shahrivar: German Model and Former Miss Europe 2005 looked incredible in a backless red floor length gown. The dress looked like it was created for her specifically. Gorgeous. I think I’ve seen Lea Michelle wear something similar to the Emmy’s, but I like Shermine better.

Barbara Meier: She may have won Germany’s Next Top Model, but this outfit was not topping any lists. I can only describe the outfit as iridescent purple gladiator outfit. Oh and it had a cape. NEXT.

Franziska Knuppe: German supermodel Franzika looked stunning in a navy blue strapless dress. The skirt was huge but no too overpowering and she paired it with a sleek side ponytail and red lips. Is it just me or does she kind of look like the January Jones of Germany?

Karl Lagerfeld: How can we talk about German fashion without mentioning Karl Lagerfeld. Lagerfeld was dressed like, well, Lagerfeld. In case you haven’t noticed he has kind of a uniform. Black dress shirt, Black jacket, giant white neckline, oversized black tie, black leather fingerless gloves, sunglasses and some silver brooches.

Nazan Eckes: I just love me a good backless dress, when pulled-off correctly they are stunning gowns. TV host Nazan Eckes wore a shimmery silver long sleeved backless creation that I thought was beautiful, but I can see how others might think she looks like a fish (shimmy sequins look like scales…).
