Eric Sartori, who has designed for Vera Wang, Hervé Léger, and Azzedine Alaïa, will become the brand’s head designer.
“He is the one,” she says. “He’s much better than I am. He just has to Betsey-fy himself.”
“But I’ll be a mega-consultant," she added. "I’ll go in. I want to be like Ralph [Lauren]. Like, I always imagined the perfect life is like Ralph, where he goes in, and his wonderful expert crews show him work, and he goes, ‘Love it, love it, love it, um, we’ll just put that aside for the moment, love it, love it, hmmm.’ You know what I mean?” she said.
“And be that — be the inspiration, the light at the end of the tunnel, the fairy godmother that comes down.”
As long as Eric "Betsey-fys" himself, we'll happily accept him as a replacement.

Johnson has been in the biz for 45 years, but this specific show had a special place in her heart, because her two grand daughters were apart of it.
“This is a mind boggling experience for me because I open the show with my two grand daughters.” She said she was nervous about their involvement since it's the “only part of the show that I can't count on."
So what inspired Johnson's latest collection? "Peter Pan! I think it's classic to me, all of it rolled into one little fairy tale,” confessed the designer.
Johnson’s goal was “just to entertain. But I love the collection too, it's always secondary to me. When I plan the show, the clothes, sure they look great, but it's more the party that you are planning.”
When asked about what trends we can expect from her 2009 Spring collection Betsey said, “I don’t think they are trends anymore I think they are lot of options, I like jumpsuits, short suits but just one piece easy stuff, I don’t know there’s tight there’s puffy, there’s sleek there’s pretty.”
She may be a pro at the game but she still gets nervous before every show. “There is critics for six months. You are flooded by your reviews and exposure.”
