The MTV VMAs were tonight and while all the focus is going to be on Lady Gaga’s performance and what’s going to happen at the Amy Winehouse and Britney Spears’ tributes, here are the stars that stole the show on the red carpet, er black carpet, because MTV is edgy.

Beyonce: Ok, Beyonce also rocks the red carpet, but while her dress may have said, “I’m gorgeous” it also said, “I’m pregnant.” Yep, true story, Beyonce has a baby Bey in her B’oven. Beyonce stunned in a one-sleeved floor length orange gown and held her stomach in a way that said “I’m with child!” And while it could have also meant “I have gas,” we’re gonna go with the former.

Selena Gomez: Selena, who has been working overtime to shed her Disney channel image was super hot in a black Julien Macdonald dress with train, gold Brian Atwood heels, and gold Judith Leiber clutch and Ofira Jewelry. At 19 years old she looked amazing, but is this really age appropriate? Actually yes, it is age appropriate. Compared to the Miley Cyrus/Taylor Momsen side boob standards, Gomez is practically a nun.

Snooki: I never though I’d ever do this, but Snooki has made it on the best-dressed list. With no hair bow in sight and wearing something other than the usual neon sock that she somehow passes off as dresses. The Snooks was wearing an Ema Savahl dress that was mature and really nice. The black and white nails were too much though, those gotta go.

Adele: Adele looked very demure in a long sleeved black dress, black tights and pumps. Her hair was styled in a huge bouffant and she just looked very classic and beautiful, just like her voice.

Zoe Saldana: While we are still referring to her as “that chick from Avatar,” Zoe Saldana was working it in a black with gold detail mini dress and snake skin shoes by Barbara Bui, a Lanvin clutch and jewelry by Ofiria.

Britney Spears: This is the best I’ve seen Britney in a long time. She was accompanied by her beau Jason Trawick and looked like the hot Britney we used to remember. Her extensions looked better than I’ve seen in a long time. Britney wore a sequined black cap sleeved romper by Moschino and black calf length boots by Gina.

Demi Lovato: Lovato sings songs about skyscrapers and dresses like them too. I was on the fence with this one, but Demi’s had a hard year yet still manages to look hot despite wearing a dress that resembles tinfoil more than couture.

Katie Holmes: Holmes was wearing a black lace dress and little suede booties that actually made her look young and fun, as opposed to the stepford mum she’s usually dressed like.
