Beyonce and her mother Tina Knowles just launched their "House Of Dereon" fashion range at UK based retailer Selfridges this weekend.

The mother and daughter-designing duo launched the collection during London's Fashion Week on Saturday September 17, 2011 and Beyonce's BFF Gwyneth Paltrow was not at the runway show, despite Beyonce delaying the catwalk show for 45 minutes waiting for Paltrow to show up.

A source tells The Sun newspaper, "Beyonce halted the whole thing because she thought Gwyneth was about to arrive."

"She kept calling her but she didn't show. People couldn't wait any longer and they had to get on with it. Beyonce wasn't angry. She was just disappointed," says the insider.

I don't know how accurate this source is considering the fact that Gwyneth Paltrow was at the Emmys on Sunday. I'm sure she knew that she was going to go to the Emmys weeks before given that she was nominated, so I'm sure B knew she wouldn't be showing up because she was in LA. Anyways, the show eventually started and the House of Dereon collection was a big hit.

Some wondered if Beyonce and Tina would clash or have a Diva-off while trying to collaborate, Beyonce says it's not like that at all:

"It's not like this strange battle between mother and daughter, like people expect. My mother's been designing for Destiny's Child and myself since we first started out," says Beyonce.

The name of the brand was inspired by Tina Knowles mother, "And House of Dereon - Dereon is actually my grandmother's name and it comes from three generations of style. And it's not just a brand, it's our life. My grandmother used to sew beautiful garments for my mother - and she did the same for me."

Now we all know that Beyonce is all about girl power (See "Who Run The World (Girls)" "Single Ladies" and "Diva" for reference). Beyonce says that her fashion line is also inspired by women empowerment.

"I'm all about giving women strength. I think we are so incredible, I'm so happy that I'm a woman and I always try to write songs or sing songs that are things that I need to hear to reinforce my ideas and my confidence and I think it's something that's a common thread between the fashion and my music."

The collection at Selfridges includes many "Bootylicious" and body conscious clothes, lots of reptile prints, lace tops, wrap dresses and even some jumpsuits.

Tina Knowles says the collection is inspired by Beyonce's jet-setting lifestyle, "Beyonce gets to travel all around the world and bring back beautiful fashions and trends. And she tells us what's going on, what's new, and what's just around the corner. So that, definitely - we depend on her a lot, we raid her closet!"
