Celebrity jeweler Neil Lane tells People magazine that Jason Trawick designed Britney's engagement ring because she is his "everyday princess," and needed a ring fit for royalty.

Oi vey. Anyways, Trawick worked very closely with Neil Lane to create from scratch, an engagement ring that evoked the thoughts of tiaras and pretty pretty princesses.

"Jason is a romantic and when I asked him to tell me about Britney and what they ring would represent to them so I could find inspiration, his response was always the same - she is his princess!" says Neil Lane himself.

Lane revealed that "Jason didn't want an over-the-top ring with a giant stone" so Lane designed what he considers a ring that "looks like a mini crown," which still seems pretty "over-the-top" but whatever.

Lane says that he and Trawick collaborated on the ring design for months, and Trawick tried to sneak in texts and emails to the designer while on tour with Britney all around the world.

"Texts came from all over the world," says Lane, "from Abu Dhabi, Mexico and I don't know where else!" says Lane. Lane admits that Trawick picked up the ring barely a week before the proposal, so there wasn't any option of him not liking it. However, that ended up not being an issue at all.

"Oh my god, he loved it," says Lane. "The guy was so excited and nervous. At the end of the day, even with all the fame, he's still a normal guy who was about to propose to the woman he loves."

And unlike Britney's short lived union with Kevin Federline and her even shorter one with Jason Alexander, Lane thinks Trawick and Spears are perfect for each other.

"He's deeply in love with her. Britney is his princess and he is her knight in shining armor. Jason's protective of her. He adores her. Every good fairytale needs a princess, and now Britney has a ring fit for a princess!"
