There’s an expression “Don’t go into business with your friends.” Well that expression is especially true when that “business” is hairstyling and that “friend” is a hack.
Cameron Diaz learned this lesson the hard way when she got a nice, short cut whether she wanted it or not back in December 2011. The Bad Teacher star had a friend cut her hair at a gathering just before the holidays.
"She was leaving to go away for Christmas with her family, it was 10:00 at night and we were trying to just get it in," Diaz told Jay Leno on the “Tonight Show” on Tuesday.
Long story, short, “a little bit off the top” turned into a lot more than she bargained for. Diaz’s “do” looked like she just had a visit from Leather Face, himself.
Not really… it was just shorter than she expected. Still, the actress reacted like she was assaulted.
“I started crying. I felt so vulnerable. For a woman to all of a sudden have no hair . . . oh my God!" said Diaz. “She started crying. I started crying. A couple other people started crying.”
Diaz’s incident proves that we can now add “bad hair day” to a list of other events that cause the same emotions: 1) natural disasters, 2) the death of a close friend, 3) ending a long-term relationship, 4) losing a job, 5) The Notebook, 6) re-uniting with a long-lost family member, 7) war…
But don’t worry; she’s fighting through the pain.
“I ended up writing [the friend] a few e-mails over the next few days assuring her I was okay," said Diaz.
Wheww… We were really worried for a second. Best of luck growing it back, Cameron!
