New Dior Ad Features Charlize Theron AND Marilyn Monroe

Charlize Theron stars in a commercial with both Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly? Say What?!

Dior just released it's new ad for its just-launched J'adore Eau de Toilette fragrance and Theron appears in the ad as a model that's running late for her big runway debut.

Dior busts into the staging area of a huge Dior fashion show before air kissing Grace Kelly, glancing at Marlene Dietrich and sharing the screen with Marilyn Monroe.

If you are asking, what kind of fashion "Back To The Future" nonsense is this? You are not alone.

While these old-Hollywood beauties appear in the commercial as digitized composites, Charlize is the real deal, which begs the question, "Does Dior think Charlize has what it takes to join the ranks of these Hollywood ladies?" and the answer is "Duh" followed by "Yes" and then the more specific, "Who else is pretty enough?"

This is true, our modern day "Hollywood Icons" are hot chicks with collagen duck lips, faux tans, and protruding clavicles, but no-one is truly stunning like the stars from the "olden days."

In the Dior ad, Charlize appears incognito in a blazer and skinny jeans, while she politely bustles past the other real life models and digitized beauties she slips into a slinky beaded Dior Gown and struts onto the catwalk in the famous French Hall of Mirrors at Versailles.

And if you listen closely you'll hear Marilyn whisper "Dior."

The spot was directed by Jean-Jacques Anaud, a film director who directed Brad Pitt in "Seven Years In Tibet" and the upcoming "Black Gold" starring Antonio Banderas.

Charlize has lent her face to Dior's J'Adore fragrance since 2004 and says filming the ad was "fantastic."

"It was incredibly glamorous and fantastic. I don't think I'll experience something like that again in my lifetime," says Charlize when describing her role in the new ad.

This new fragrance is like the original J'Adore Eau De Parfum except a little lighter. In a statement for the brand, "Dior's signature lies in its almost excessive use of flowers" but says the new Eau De Toilette is "softer, fresher and more current."

In a past ad for Dior, Charlize Theron walks through a Paris apartment stripping off her clothes until she's only left wearing Dior's perfume.

In another commercial, Theron is seen doing nothing other than lounging around a bed draped in gold sheets that are strategically blowing in the wind.
