Paris Fashion Week: Christian Dior Fall 2012-2013

Paris Fashion Week is well underway and Christian Dior showed a spotless and nearly perfect collection that lived up to the brands legacy.

However, this Ready-To-Wear collection showed a more wearable side to the brand, thanks in part to designer Bill Gaytten, who showed his second collection with the brand since the dreaded Galliano scandal a year ago.

The color palette was gorgeous. Lots of pale grape, periwinkles, petal pink, and soft silvers. The show opened with lots of Dior’s signature masculine tailoring but with that soft feminine touch that Dior is so famous for.

Their were little jackets paired with curvy high waisted skirts, long wool trenchcoats, wrap around knits, and a mid length kind of tutu skirt. Gaytten says he was inspired by the ballet.

Vogue’s Lucinda Chambers says, “He’s doing a really good job. I thought it was ravishing, such lovely colors – the Dior customer would be very happy. It was really polished, but gentle.”

The finale pieces featured a series of beautiful gowns that I require Charlize Theron and Emma Stone to wear to EVERY red carpet appearance. The eveningwear clothing were very old school Dior, basically reworking structured gowns with sheer skirts that ebbed and flowed. It screamed old Hollywood. I love it.
