There was this incredible fashion show on MTV from 1989 to 2002 called “House of Style” and since it’s “before my time” all I know about it is what I learned from the internet and apparently this show was the real deal.

The show documented the fashion scene during the grungy 90’s era, so when flannel, crop tops, and cat-eye sunglasses were on-trend and Kate Moss reigned supreme.

Basically, “House of Style” was legendary. Naomi Campbell let cameras into her house to show fans how she gets rid of zits. They had interviews with a pre-slim-down Karl Lagerfeld and footage of Andre Leon Talley when he was still skinny.

The show is so vintage, one of the hosts went shopping with the Spice Girls at an American mall store called Contempo Casual, which was the precursor to Wet Seal. They were basically just shopping around this low-budget store buying tons of tiny backpacks. Malls were VERY popular in the ‘90s.

The show was hosted by '90s supermodels and TV hosts like Cindy Crawford, Rebecca Romijn, Shalom Harlow, Daisy Fuentes and Mollie Sims.

The new incarnation of the show will return on October 9th but will premiere online at MTV’s Style blog. The new hosts will be revealed live on the red carpet at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards on September 6th, we’re hoping it’s one of those Victoria Secret girls or some IT GIRL fashion icon like Lana Del Ray or Azealia Banks!

MTV will also release a documentary short coming out on August 7th describing what the former show was all about which includes interviews with former hosts Cindy Crawford and Daisy Fuentes, models Coco Rocha, Karlie Kloss and the new generation of fashion muses like Theophilus London and Rita Ora.
