Someone said that women who change their hair color often is a sign of emotional insecurity. Using that logic, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga must be sociopaths (okay that’s probably true). Let’s just say that getting a new hair color can signify a change in your life and for Demi Lovato, she just died her hair red to signify her one-year anniversary of getting her life back on track.
Last November, Demi left her tour with the Jonas Brothers because of a nervous break down. She entered a treatment facility soon after and left rehab in January of this year. She seems to be doing great now and what better way to celebrate a fresh start with a new hair color.
On Saturday Demi tweeted, “Changing my hair color today…. J” and then later she wrote “Red hurr she don’t curr…” Grammar aside, I think that means she wanted to dye her hair red and maybe something about red-heads don’t care?
She then posted a photo with, you guessed it, red-orange hair. She tweeted a pic and wrote, “Just woke up from a nap…Can’t believe I fell asleep before tweeting this…… ;)”
Other stars that went red:
Rihanna: Rihanna is famously red. She originally had normal brunette hair, entered a jet black mohawk phase and then last year began to debut bright red hair. Her shade of red was always changing from firetruck red to plum red. She kept that look for a year and just went back to her roots a few months ago.
Scarlett Johansson: Back in May, Scarlett Johansson debuted a red hair at the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Dinner. She went from blonde to a dark red and with her fair skin it looked great. As of her latest cover for Vanity Fair, she still has the red hair.
Blake Lively: Lively usually has a summery blonde look and if you blinked, you missed her short-lived orange red hair stint. This summer she went for copper colored locks.
Drew Barrymore: Have you seen Drew Barrymore’s cover girl ads with the red hair? Those ads are stunning. She dubuted a coppery brown red in April and it just kept getting redder and redder.
Kirsten Dunst: Dunst is famously blonde but went orange blonde for a second. She died it red for her role in Spider Man, but she should keep it that way. People might confuse her for Emma Stone, but that’s probably a good thing.
Whitney Port: Port also went red this summer. She first went for a bright red and then eventually washed it out to what she describes as a “sun kissed apricot.” Lol, it’s orange girl, call it like it is.
