I rarely let celebrities tell me what to do with my pants, but this is for a good cause so…what the heck!

Demi Lovato is the new spokesperson for DoSomething’s Teens for Jeans campaign. The organization, teaming up with Aeropostale, encourages teenagers to collect their gently worn jeans to donate to homeless youth across the country.

19 year-old Lovato says in the ad campaign:

“I’m donating my jeans. Clean out your closet and donate yours, too.”

Lovato, who has dealt with her own share of teen angst, says in the vid:

“Teens go through hard times. But did you know that two million teens don’t know where to go at night?”

In four years, the organization has collected more tan one and a half million jeans. One school that collects the most jeans will win $5,000 as well as new pair of Aeoropostale jeans for every student.

DoSomething.org encourages youth to inform themselves on worthy causes and then to take action to make the world a better place. A statement on their website reads:

“We love teens. They are creative, active, wired…and frustrated that our world is so messed up. DoSomething.org harnesses that awesome energy and unleashes it on causes teens care about.. Almost every week, we launch a new national campaign. The call to action is always something that has a real impact and doesn’t require money, an adult, or a car. With a goal of 5 million active members by 2015, DoSomething.org is one of the largest organizations in the U.S. for teens and social change.”
