Weighing Yourself: According to Dr. Oz, the average American wakes up at 6:00 a.m., and the best time to step on the scale is 6:30, after your morning bathroom break. Yep, he said it. In a demonstration on The Dr. Oz Show, he revealed that the extra weight you lose in the morning from sweating and using the bathroom is the equivalent of a bottle of wine. And I can never drink Pinot Grigio the same again.
Exercise: It sounds miserable, but the best time to exercise is in the morning, right after you weigh yourself. Dr. Oz says in the morning, your body burns fat in a different way. If waking up and hitting the gym sounds bad, it gets worse. He also explains that when you eat breakfast before exercising, your body has to burn the calories from the food before it gets to the fat.
Eating: Breakfast should be eaten within an hour after waking up, and dinner should be more than three hours before bed. If you wake up at 6:30, breakfast should be eaten at 7:30, lunch should be eaten at noon, and dinner at 6:30 p.m. You can forget about the late-night fridge raids.
Boosting Metabolism: 8:00 a.m., according to Dr. Oz. He says the body is slowest at this time of the morning, which explains why we crave coffee around that time. Drinking a glass of ice cold water around this time will force the body to warm up and will help to increase metabolism. This can help a person lose a pound a year.
Grocery shopping: If you know anyone who has a pantry full of Cheetos, Oreos and Twinkies, it means they shop when they’re hungry. We all know to avoid that behavior, but Dr. Oz says the best time for grocery shopping is 10 a.m. At that time, you’re still full from breakfast and your blood sugar levels are at a good level. That also means less chance of shoving someone with your shopping cart for standing in the middle of the aisle texting.
