Marc Jacobs Not Going to Dior: It's Best for Everyone

After Dior fired John Galliano as head designer, they've been trying to fill the void for nearly a year. Dior has been eyeing Marc Jacobs as Galliano's successor, but Jacobs finally says that collaboration is not going to happen.

As the creative director of Louis Vuitton, he says he isn't ready to leave just yet.

As for the would-be gig at Dior, Jacobs says, "It's a great honor to be considered, and [LVMH CEO] Mr Arnault is a super intelligent man and a very smart man and it was certainly a very great honor for him to know that I was capable- and not only capable but that I am someone that he would have wanted for the job," says Jacobs.

However, Jacobs is very proud of his current work at LV.

"I am very happy to be here. There is so much more left to do and building Louis Vuitton into a fashion company is something nobody else can say they really started," says Jacobs.

However, rumors say that Jacobs would only take the Dior job if he could bring his team from LV over to Dior but Arnault objected.

"It was a little bit more complicated than that...but we agreed that is was probably best for everyone," says Jacobs.
