During the private collection auction in NY, a pearl necklace known as La Peregrina sold for $11.8 million and a 33-carat diamond ring went for $8.8 million. Taylor received the jewels as a gift from her husband Richard Burton, whom Rahul Kadakia, head of jewellery for Christie's Auctions says "went for $300,000 in 1968, which was a fortune back then."

Next month, Elizabeth Taylor’s $6 million diamond collection will be auctioned off, and David reportedly wants to buy them for his wife. This means one thing: women everywhere will be whining to their boyfriends: “How come you never buy me Elizabeth Taylor jewelry?”
A source says:
“David’s been so happy since Harper was born, he feels like him and Victoria are falling in love all over again. He wants to show it with the most impressive gifts possible.”

Liz collected so many jewels that the estimated value was $150 million. That’s a lot of jewels!
So what’s going to happen to all that jewelry now that Elizabeth Taylor has passed away? Christie’s will reportedly auction the jewelry collection sometime in the future.
Barbara Walter had the chance to sit with Liz a few years back where she gave a peek of her collection. Your jaws are definitely going to drop after watching the video below!

The Many Loves of Elizabeth Taylor
Aside from her successful movie career and her several failed marriages, Elizabeth was known for her style and collection of jewels. She really lived by the "Diamonds are a girls best friend" slogan.
Looking back at photos of her earlier years, it’s obvious Taylor’s style was more conservative wearing elegant dresses and pea coats, but as the years progressed, her style did as well. As she got older she became more comfortable with sultry outfits.
No matter what Elizabeth was wearing, she would was always playing up her outfits with extravagant diamonds.
Elizabeth had a large collection of jewels she had collected throughout the years.
Her ex-husband Richard Burton famously gifted her a 33.19-carat Asscher-cut Krupp Diamond. That’s the infamous ring she wore throughout her life.
He also gave her the heart-shaped Taj-Mahal diamond, inscribed in Arabic, for her 40th birthday: "I would have liked to buy her the Taj-Mahal," Burton said at the time, "but it would cost too much to transport. This diamond has so many carats, it's almost a turnip."
The most famous gift of all was the 69.42-carat pear-shape diamond. Yes please! But the diamonds will never shine as bright as her star. You'll be missed Liz, may you rest in peace!
