Name three trends you never want to see together? Sheer with fur and some color blocking? Great, now imagine that those look awesome together? I know it’s hard to, right?

Somehow BCBG Max Azria Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 show is full of neutral color blocking, sheer cutouts and lots of fur trimmed jackets and it’s very cool and surprisingly it works.

The collection debuted at New York Fashion week and according to Max and Lubov Azaria it was “an artful proposition.”

Several seasons ago, color blocking was worthy of a fashiongasm, “omigod salmon colored shorts with a teal and taupe color-block tank! I die!” However, BCBG has perfected the look away from it’s bold and youthful look of the brands spring/summer 2012 collection and transformed it into a sophisticated look full of mature colors in black, biscuit, cream, merlot, burgundy and navy.

However, there were some gasp moments, like that gunmetal and white color blocking trenchcoat with fur trimmed sleeves? What was that all about?

Most of the blocking was vertical making it more slimming and easier to wear, emphasized by lots of sheer paneling and some deep v-neck tunics.

There was also lots of fox fur, adorning the sleeves and vests of many of the items, giving the strict geometrical lines of the dresses some much needed accenting.

I could see A-Listers like Tilda Swinton, Florence Welch, Jessica Chastain, or Natalie Portman wearing anything from this collection.
