Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen has decided to return to her Brazilian roots and will launch a contest to discover the upcoming model talent in Brazil’s shantytowns.
The winner will walk away with a modeling contract. It’s being organized by the Central Union of Slum (CUFA) in the attempt “to boost slum dweller’s self-esteem.”
Bundchen spoke to the model hopefuls, telling them, “You have to know your good side for photos…to feel comfortable in your own skin to be beautiful and to have a lot of perseverance.”
I don’t know if a modeling competition is what the people of the Brazilian shantytowns really need, but sure, everyone wants to fight off a bunch of other women and be crowned “most beautiful.”
“Even if she is white, Bundchen’s being here is important because she is from Brazil were there is great racial diversity and she is renowned worldwide,” says Rafaella Lemes, one of the model contestants.
“I feel privileged to be the sponsor of this project,” says Bundchen.
In other news, the supermodel is reportedly expecting a second child with husband Tom Brady. They already have a two-year-old son, Benjamin. Bundchen is said to be three months along, but like most supermodels, she's still as stick-then as ever before.
