Gwen Stefani Unveils Kids Clothing Line For Target
November 14, 2011 by: MADISON VANDERBERG

Stars like Maya Rudolph, Selma Blair, Michelle Monaghan, Brook Burke and Ali Larter turned up to the support the singer turned designer and walked the “Target” inspired bullseye-carpet instead of a red carpet.
While most "fashion shows" in LA consist of size zero models and DJ's blasting remixes of Kanye West songs, this fashion launch features all pint sized models in adorable clothes and a bunch of moms pointing and saying "aww how cute."
The launch party was held on Saturday night at Jim Henson’s Studios in Hollywood California and saw a fashion show of little kid models strutting the catwalk in clothes from the collection. Two of the models included Stefani’s own sons, Zuma and Kingston Rossdale.
The collection is inspired by Stefani’s Harajuku Lovers and L.A.M.B brands, but tiny versions of her Japanese influenced style. The collection is very punk rock, seeing lots of plaid, ballerina-style tutus, skinny jeans, polka dots, and hoodies with slogans like “Hazard,” “Love Makes Me Cute” and “I Am A Monster.”
The collection goes on sale today and if it sells out as quickly as the Missoni line did, Stefani is planning a second collection for the store in January. So far, I don’t see any lines wrapped around Target, so I’m assuming it wont cause mayhem like Missoni did.
Unlike her other fashion endeavors, this colletion wont break the bank. The clothes fit infants all the way to preteens and range in price from $3 to $30.
“Harajuku Mini is a dream come true,” says Stefani. “I’ve always wanted to do a cool children’s fashion line inspired by the super-cute and playful kids' clothing you find in Japan.”
She adds: “Target has given me the creative freedom to design kid’s clothing that is different than most anything you usually see out there with great quality, attention to detail and most of all, available at amazing prices,' she said.
Trish Adams, senior vice president of apparel and accessories at Target added: 'Gwen is a creative force and her ability to create fun, wearable fashion made her an ideal partner for Target.'
“The whole idea is about being creative, expressing your own individuality and having fun getting dressed,” says Stefani.
Past designer collaborations for Target included Missoni, Calypso St Barth, Zac Posen and Rodarte. When I think back to a time when Target boasted it’s collaboration with Mossimo I just laugh. Hah.
