H&M Announces Next Designer Collaboration
November 29, 2011 by: MADISON VANDERBERG

H&M released a teaser video which takes audiences in a behind-the-scenes peek at the photo shoot for the new collection with interviews from Marni designer, H&M creative advisor, and style.com experts.
The collection will launch March of 2012 in 260 stores worldwide, and you can expect a kind of “best of” Marni, in the same way that Versace did for their collection.
“I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favorite pieces in signature fabrics and prints, says Marni Creative Director Consuelo Castiglioni, “As always, I love juxtaposing prints and colors, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic adding sporty utilitarian elements.”
Castiglioni’s most excited to “speak to a wider audience, and in particular the younger generation.”
According to H&M creative Adviser Margareta Van den Bosch, H&M has seen the collection and is very confident it will do well in the stores.
“We all love the collection here at H&M and we believe that our customers will do the same. Marni has such a modern touch with everything they do, mixing prints and accessories in a playful but chic way. It's fantastic to see how Consuelo Castiglioni coordinates her designs, matching new combinations of print and color, with such incredible craftsmanship behind every piece. The collection will arrive in stores at just the perfect time, as a lovely statement for spring,” says Van den Bosch.
The new Marni for H&M video also features some wisdom from Style.com’s Tim Blanks who says, “Marni is very much Consuelo. She does fit into that tradition of Miuccia Prada, Rei Kawakubo – women like that who are thinking designers who don’t take the easy route…She aims for a sort of sensuality of the mind.
This news comes after rumors that Tom Ford would create the next designer collection for H&M. Without confirming or denying the rumor, Van den Bosch simply said, “Tom Ford is a very interesting name. I can say, I wouldn’t mind.”
However, that doesn’t mean that it can never happen. Designer collaborations have proven very popular for H&M and good for the designer themselves. The Marni collection is the latest designer collaboration for H&M, but the giant retailer has previously teamed up with Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Comme des Garcons, Jimmy Choo, Lanvin, and obviously it’s current resident designer, Versace.
