How Re-Sellers Ruined Jason Wu for Target
The people have spoken. And they’re pissed. Okay, it’s a small group of people, but still. We’re pissed.

If you were as excited about the Jason Wu collection for Target as I was, you were probably just as disappointed when you went to the store or went online and realized everything was sold out. But don’t worry, you can still get some items…on eBay. For three times the price.
Blake Lively and Other Celebs Celebrate Launch of Jason Wu For Target
Blake Lively, Chloe Moretz, Emmy Rossum and Jaime King were among some of the stars who showed up last night in support of the Jason Wu for Target collection launch.

Drawing inspiration from the collection itself, the launch party in New York last night was a Parisian affair. Guests chowed down on Macaroons and French Onion soup.

“I was inspired by the French New Wave films, actresses like Jean Seberg and Anna Karina. That nonchalant chic, that effortless style, mixed with American sportswear” says Wu.

Jason Wu For Target: The Full Collection
Following the success of many designer collaborations for Target, Jason Wu is the latest celeb to debut a bargain version of their high-end designs.

However, unlike the last Target collection, Missoni for Target, which pimped out their iconic design on everything from coffee mugs to wash cloths, Jason Wu for Target is a tightly edited 53 piece collection of A-line dresses, high-waisted skirts, button-up blouses. It's also very patriotic, petit, and lady-like.
Jason Wu to Design For Target
Expect the Target website to crash yet again. Jason Wu, the young prodigy designer whose clothes have been famously worn by first lady Michelle Obama, will debut a special edition collection for Target in early 2012. Start camping out now.

Target has always done limited edition designer collections, but lately they've really started to outdo themselves. Target just launched the Missoni for Target collection which drove flocks of fashionistas to Target.com crashing the website and camping outside of Target stores all across America.

Target has been dropping hints all week via twitter to lead up to the announcement. They tweeted, "Who is the next #TargetDesigner? Get your sleuthing gear on, we're about to share some clues." They then unleashed 5 "clues" which were not obvious at all, unless you're one of those fashion intern types who watched NY Fashion week online and actually refer to black dresses as LBD's.
Jason Wu Going Bridal!
Designer Jason Wu struck gold when First Lady Michelle Obama wore one of his designs at the Inauguration Ball. That’s when America was officially introduced to the American fashion designer.

Michelle’s dress was white and sort of looked like a wedding dress, so Wu has decided to monetize on that and launch a bridal collection.

He has designed 5 ivory dresses, which will be sold exclusively at net-a-porter.com starting January. The dresses will range from $795 to $4,000.

I love how the prices range from $795 to $4,000, which means that one dress will be $795 and the rest will be $4,000.

The looks will be “both youthful and injected with elements of American sportswear,” Wu tells WWD.

Wu says that the dresses were designed with the altar in mind, but it can also be worn to special occasions. I’m not sure if I would wanna wear my wedding dress to other occasions. That’s the one or several (depending how many times you get married) dress a girl treasures for a lifetime.
Michelle Obama Keeps Her Wardrobe Young and Fresh
Michelle Obama has become one of the most stylish first ladies in the White House since Jackie O. She wows us each time she steps out, from rocking a lemongrass Isabel Toledo coat and dress at the President’s swearing-in, to looking graceful in a Jason Wu ivory gown at the Inaugural Ball.

Since Obama has become president, Michelle has wowed the nation with her ability to look stylish at every event she appears. And she isn’t afraid to push the button with her personal style, donning dresses every day citizens could see themselves wearing.

Take the sleeveless black jersey sheath Michelle chose for her official White House portrait. The dress was designed by Michael Kors, one of the most prominent designers in the fashion world right now.

What makes Michelle so likeable is that she picks many American, up-and-coming designers like Jason Wu, and counter-balances it with pieces from J. Crew. Many scrutinize her for being too “fashion-forward,” but we embrace a First Lady who knows that “Change” doesn’t stop at a beautiful ensemble. She brings modernity and color into Washington, which has been filled with ill-fitting pantsuits for years.

Most recently, Michelle chose yet another young designer when she came out for the unveiling of the bust of abolitionist Sojourner Truth at Emancipation Hall. Michelle donned Sophie Theallet shirt dress.

There’s some speculation that Michelle has shown interest in Sophie because the Brooklyn-based designer used only black models for her Spring 2009 runway show.

Sophie said of the honor, “When I was designing that first show, which was before the election, I was just thinking about colors. I think that black models and black skin are very beautiful, and I wanted to express that. When people saw my clothes, they said, ‘Oh, Michelle, she would be so good in these clothes.’ She’s a beautiful lady and she is very well-dressed and she looks stunning all the time. Especially on this day, for this occasion, I’m honored.”

Here are some of Michelle Obama’s favorite designers. We can’t wait to see what she wears next!

  • Jason Wu
  • Azzedine Alaia
  • Michael Kors
  • J. Crew
  • Sophie Theallet
  • Isabel Toledo
  • Kai Milla (Stevie Wonder’s wife)
  • Thakoon Panichgul
Who is Jason Wu?

Michelle Obama made her choice and it was not long before this slightly off the radar young designer would be the name heard around the world.

So who is Jason Wu? At just 26 years old Wu is a New York designer, who has only been designing for three years!

Within these three years Wu has impressed some very important people. He was a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist, and is featured heavily in the fashion magazine.

Last night during the live coverage of the Ball, a very surprised Wu called into CNN where he told Cambell Brown that he was just as surprised as everyone else.

Wu had no idea that the First Lady was going to wear the gown until she came out for the first time. Wu was asked by Michelle's Stylist to design three gowns for the First Lady.

Michelle’s choice has no doubt changed the young designer forever, so we shall keep our eyes peeled for more to come from Jason Wu.
Jason Wu Designs Michelle Obama's Inauguration Gown
For all you fashion lovers, the best part of the inaugural ball had to be the anticipation of First Lady Michelle Obama's gown. The big question of the night was, who was she wearing?

Michelle celebrated her husband Barack Obama's inauguration Tuesday night wearing a white chiffon, one-shoulder gown by 26 year-old designer Jason Wu. Remember that name, because it's about to become a house hold name.

The appliqué and beaded chiffon gown will no doubt go down in history as one of the most beautiful and sophisticated dresses worn by a First Lady.

"First of all, how good-looking is my wife?" the president asked a cheering crowd.

Obama and his gorgeous wife Michelle were serenaded by Beyonce as she covered Etta James' "At Last" during the evening's first dance at the Neighborhood Ball at Washington's Convention Center. And what a ball it was!

So who is Jason Wu? This low-key designer has only been on the radar since 2006. He briefly worked at Anne Klein but is considered relatively avant-garde.

One things for certain though, with the Oscars right around the corner, we wouldn't be surprised if we saw more Wu originals on the red carpet.
