There comes a time in every celebrities life…when they become a “fashion designer.” Jennifer Hudson has graduated from former singing competition winner, to full fledged celeb, to mini mogul. I cannot wait for the inevitable fragrance launch.
Anyways, Hudson is just the latest in a long line of celebs to release an “affordable” fashion collection with QVC. That’s assuming you think $50 leggings are affordable. When I say affordable, I’m talking about the Sofia Vergara for Kmart line, she’s got bras for like $10.
Hudson talked to Women’s Wear Daily about her new collection, “I feel like I represent every woman. I’ve been on both sides of the fence.”
By that she means, she’s been skinny and...not as skinny.
“I’ve been a big girl and now whatever this is, the average size, whatever you want to call it. But I wanted the clothes to be where any girl could wear it – no matter what size you are – and you could feel comfortable in it,” says Hudson.
The 14-piece range consists of items like a $75 sheer maxiskirt, a $74.50 curve-hugging dress and of course $50 leggings.
And like most celebs, she swears by her collection, saying, “It has to be true to me. I would not sign off on it if I would not wear it.”
That's what the Kardashian's said about their Kollection for Sears and I've never seen any of them in those leopard print jumpsuits.
QVC’s VP of merchandising says of Hudson, “she has this great Cinderella story, an aspiration for different women. We don’t overtly go out to target someone who is Hispanic or African-American. We never look at it that way. It all starts with the person’s story and product. That dictates who buys it.”
The collection will launch on September 10 on QVC.
