Fashion Recap: HFPA Installation Luncheon
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Annual Installation Luncheon is one of the most important events in the run-up to the organization’s annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony, and it accordingly is always studded with some very, very well dressed celebs.

This year’s lunch saw quite a lot of mingling and some questionable sartorial choices, as well as some stunning wins—read on for our recap of the best and the belch!

Blech: Jennifer Lawrence in Narciso Rodriguez
Jennifer Lawrence has a formula for her red carpet walks: questionable hair-do, chest baring dress. She was in true form here, sporting a hairstyle that looked like Shakira’s after a rain storm, and a revealing snake-print Narciso Rodriguez dress that sources say she had to corral her boobs back in to when she ran up to the podium at one point during the afternoon and they tried to escape. Tape, Jen.

Blah: Christina Hendricks in Dolce & Gabbana
Christina Hendricks dressed like Joan Holloway again, and again she looked lovely, and again we can’t wait until she gets another period-costume-role so we can see her in something that’s not so classic Hollywood/50s bombshell. Her tie-neck dress and peep toes were cute, and she looked lovely, but it was boring. Maybe Christina and Jennifer can switch wardrobes for an event?

Beautiful: Kerry Washington in Christian Dior
I can’t remember Kerry Washington ever making a style misstep, and she’s kept up her streak here with a pink and red Christian Dior ballerina dress. Jessica Biel wore the same one in white to the ESPY awards in July, but the way Kerry echoed the color scheme of her frock—red soles on her Louboutins and the skirt’s stripes, pinky-red lips and blush like the body of the dress, beige pumps and nails—put her at a bit of a style advantage here.

Beautiful: Carla Gugino in Amanda Wakeley
Carla Gugino wore her tangerine Amanda Wakeley dress much better than the runway model who walked in it two years ago. I really, really want to know who did her mirror-shiny gold snakeskin pumps (H.Stern did the super cool circular cuff), and I also really, really want to know how she manages never aging.

Blech: Jordana Brewster in MaxMara
I’m sorry, but this looks like something you could pick up on the sale rack at Forever21. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but when you have the resources and a red carpet to walk, you owe to everyone who does peruse the sale rack at Forever21 (like me) to look a little better.

Sigh: Jon Travolta If you look like a Madame Tussaud’s version of yourself and you had to spray your hair on this morning, it’s time to reassess your hair and makeup team. That is all.
