Jessica Simpson Launching Tween Line With Sister Ashlee
Jessica Simpson is planning on expanding her fashion line and brand by launching a tween clothing line at the end of this year. Jessica is teaming up with her sister to co-create a line of clothing aimed at trendy 7-16 year olds.

“I'm excited to bring my sister, Ashlee, along as co-creative director of this division, because she brings a savvy rocker edge that defines today's tweens,” says Jessica Simpson.

Who are these tweens with a “savvy rocker edge?” When I was 8 I was busy getting my head stuck between the banisters of the staircase.

“The tween line includes denim jeans, knit tops, hoodies, pullovers, striped shrunken knits, graphic T-shirts and drawstring pants.”

Edgy fashion forward 10-year-olds are going to be saying “Jessica who?” and then their parents are going to struggle trying to describe what the Simpson sisters are actually famous for, “Well, I think they are singers? Or reality TV stars? Something having to do with chicken-of-the-sea? Or daisy dukes? Nevermind honey, just let mommy buy you these back-to-school clothes. You like faux fur sleeveless vests right?”

The first celebrity endorsed clothing line for tweens came from then teens themselves, the Olsen twins. Before they dressed like bourgeois homeless people, the Olsen's sold clothes for 12 year olds at Wal Mart. Yah, I owned some corduroy cropped jeans and a pleated skirt or two from that collection.

Other celebrities with clothing aimed at Tweens and Teens include: “Dream out loud” by Selena Gomez for Kmart. Miley and Max, Miley Cyrus's collaboration with Max Azria for Wal-Mart.

Madonna and 13 year old daughter Lourdes have a tween fashion line called “Material Girl” at Macy's. However the models for this line are Kelly Osbourne and Taylor Momsen, so I doubt many parents would let their ten-year olds dress like those notorious bad girls. For Boys, the Jonas brothers have a line for tweens in partnership with Disney.
