Report: Jessica Simpson Signs $3 Million Deal With Weight Watchers

Jessica Simpson has a big motivator to lose that baby weight. The singer-turned-fashion designer has reportedly signed a deal with Weight Watchers and her payday is a whopping $3 million. This fetus is really pulling its weight!

According to Page Six, an industry insider said:

“The deal is in place, and after having her baby, she’ll start with Weight Watchers to lose her baby weight.”

Between this and reportedly trying to sell her baby announcement for $500,000, Simpson’s been pretty savvy about using this pregnancy to endorse her “brand.” At this rate, she’s going to have to figure out how to spell ‘Jessica’ with a K and change her last name to Kardashian.

In 2005, Simpson was reportedly paid half a million to release an exercise video about losing weight. But, according to Alex Astilean, the CEO of the video’s production company, Simpson made a business decision to keep the weight. She believed having a few extra pounds on her made her more relatable to the average American woman.

“I got so much scrutiny for putting on extra pounds, but I think that the decision not to make myself anorexic was actually great for branding,” Simpson says. “Because when you’re really, really skinny, not everybody can relate to you.”

While you’re trying to make yourself relatable to the average woman, why not wear Old Navy yoga pants 24/7 and trade in your Black Amex card for $10,000 worth of student loan debt?

“Jessica did an exercise video about losing weight [that was never released] and instead she chose to gain weight and cash in on it,” Astilean said of Simpson’s choice. He tried suing the singer, but she won, and he ended up having to pay her manager for defamation.

Spears recently appeared on Rachel Ray to talk about the progress of her pregnancy. Specifically, what she’s been eating:

“This week it’s peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, toasted,” Simpson said.

Okay, that’s surprisingly normal.

“I’ll put some salt on my hand like I’m taking a tequila shot and then take a bite of the sandwich.”

Aaaand there goes the crazy pregnant lady talk.

Simpson said that she was brought to tears when she felt her baby move in her belly:

“It was the coolest thing ever. It did a flip or something. I was like, ‘There it went. It’s there. It’s really there.’”

The baby was probably trying to get out so it could get its hands on that $3 million!

She added: “That’s the one thing about pregnancy. I’ll cry at the drop of a hat – even a great soufflé would make me cry.”
