Now, the well dressed rapper is going to launch his own label that he hopes to debut at New York Fashion Week this fall.
He’s paired up with London designer Louise Goldin on the ready-to-wear label and already had a studio in both London and New York.
Kanye has made donations to the London fashion school Central Saint Martins and one of their professors Louise Wilson speaks highly of Kanye’s future fashion endeavors (probably because he made donations, but who knows?)
“I've known him for two years now and he's incredibly knowledgeable about fashion, he's a global phenomenon and a very interesting person. I think we can expect a well-considered collection, you wouldn't expect less from a pair of professionals and I warn against dismissing it in haste,” says Wilson.
I guess he’s saying this isn’t one of those musician turned “designer” scenarios (Ahem...Jessica Simpson).
Although this is not high fashion, when Kanye wore those stupid stunna shades during his “Glow in the Dark” tour, you couldn’t go anywhere without seeing them on everyone. I ran into so many walls when I wore those plastic glasses, you can't see thru them. Kanye made popular some of the trendiest non-functioning glasses that year.
And he’s been doing his homework. Kanye has designed a scarf collection, interned for Fendi and collaborated with Louis Vuitton on shoes.
