Karl Lagerfeld presented an especially icy Fall 2012 Chanel collection. Models like Cara Delevingne and Miranda Kerr stomped out down the runway, emerging from a sort of crystal ice cave and a ground covered to look like snow.

A good portion of the collection was a reinvention of the traditional tweed boucle suit. Hoods were added and tweed jackets were turned into jacquard parkas with peplum hips and paired with straight-legged tweed slacks to reinvigorate the traditional suit silhouette.

The color palette featured lots rich dark colors in purples, blues, greys, and black.

The collection wasn’t all Chanel suits, there were lots of mid-length silk skirts and eccentric three-dimensional dresses embellished in crystals and feathers.

Every piece in the collection was paired with a skinny cigarette pant. Call it a slim trouser or a legging, but every coat, dress, skirt, or parka was paired with one of those iconic skinny pants.

The crowd was huge and the runway set was insane. Large ice crystals grew out of every inch of the floor.

Famous faces like Katy Perry, Alicia Keys and Anna Wintour sat front row and cheered for Kaiser Karl as he emerged out of the crystal cave for his final bow. Also, Karl switched up his usual uniform-type outfits by adding a royal blue shirt and some crushed velvet pants.
