Anna Wintour, the fame editor-in-chief of American Vogue wants to nab Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, for the cover of Vogue America. Wintour is trying to use Mario Testino to persuade the Duchess to model for the mag.

Famed photographer Testino shot Kate and William’s engagement photos and Wintour thinks he can change Kate's mind and pose for the mag.

"Anna has been speaking to Mario about winning over Catherine. She is really pressing him to shoot Catherine for the cover," a source tells the NY Post's Page Six.

However, many mags have been trying to get Kate Middleton as their cover girl but the Royal lady has yet to appear on any publication's cover.

"The duchess turned down the chance to be a British Vogue cover girl before her wedding. it was reported British editor Alexandra Shulman had hoped she would be photographed by Testino for a wedding edition, but she declined the invitation."

Somehow Anna Wintour and her nuclear prowess with the help of Mario Testino thinks she can convince the Duchess otherwise. Testino does have luck photographing British chicks named Kate for the mag (i.e. Kate Moss covers Vogue's September issue) and if anyone is gonna convince the Royal Kate to do it, Testino and Wintour can.

"Every magazine has been trying to get Catherine, and many assume it will eventually be Vogue. But even with the Mario Testino relationship, it is not clear when this will happen. The palace must approve it, and they are very protective of Catherine."

And protective they should be. The day after the Royal wedding, a photo of Kate in her wedding gown appeared on the cover of Grazia magazine and caused a media frenzy when it was rumored that the mag digitally altered the already skinny Duchess to make her waist appear even slimmer. Grazia has since fessed up to digitally altering the photo, sort of. The admitted to photoshopping her arm, but claim they did nothing to make her appear skinnier.

However, Mario Testino has had a long-standing relationship with the Royal Family. He did a photo shoot with Princess Diana in 1997, just 5 months before her untimely death for a spread in Vanity Fair. Additionally, Prince Harry and William were both featured in Vanity Fair, with Prince William covering the mag.

So why can't Kate cover a mag or two? She's become a fashion icon in her own right, proving that you can wear panty hose and lots of eyeliner and it's totally okay. Her wedding dress was designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen and has inspired copycat wedding dresses the world over.

On top of all that, the usually icy Anna Wintour actually likes her, "There's nothing trashy or vulgar about her," Anna has said in the past, "She dresses her age and never looks out of place."

Kate for Vogue! Kate for Vogue!
