Kate Middleton Auctions Off Two Fabulous Hats
The Brits have a weird relationship with their hats. Those flat hats worn on the very tip on your head are called fascinators and nobody except rich British ladies seem to be fascinated by them. Literally.

Now, Kate Middleton has decided to auction off two of her precarious head pieces. Actually, both these hats were worn pre-Royal wedding, when Kate used to rent hats for about $200 a day.

Yeah, Kate used to RENT hats.

The first hat is a black and white disc-shaped Phillip Somerville creation that she wore when she accompanied William to the Order of the Garter at Windsor in June 2008. I don’t know what that means, the point is, Kate wore this hat “pre-fame.” It’s vintage, I guess.

The second fancy hat is a black-feathered Aurora hat she wore to a friends wedding in October 2010 right before she and William announced their engagement.

The owner of the hat shop where Kate borrowed the headgear is selling them at auction on June 26. Despite the low price that Kate paid to rent them, the hats are estimated to fetch between $2,000 and $3,000 a piece.

However, this is the same auction house that sold the see-through dress that Kate wore in a student catwalk show for $140,000, so I’m guessing those silly hats will go for a lot more than than $2,000.
