Kim Kardashian Will “Bastardize” Fashion – Says Famous Designer
Some important designers think that celebs like Kim Kardashian are ruining fashion.

Before you start reading, there are a lot of fashion-y terms being thrown around this article, so just bare with me as we get through this, because the moral of the story is that Kim Kardashian and the word “bastardizing” are happening in the same sentence. Keep reading.

Designer Ralph Rucci was recently honored with the Andre Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award. Andre Leon Talley used to be the editor-at-large at Vogue and Rucci just dressed Beyonce for the 2012 Met Gala. Basically, these people are a BIG deal in fashion.

During a Q&A with both men, the fashion icons got real on what it means to dress celebrities and specifically how they feel about Kim Kardashian’s place on the red carpet.

“What’s shocking to me is how important the red carpet is,” says Talley, “At one point I thought it was ruining [fashion] but I don’t think that anymore. I don’t think any celebrity can take away from fashion. Not even Kim Kardashian could take away from fashion…though, of course, Kim Kardashian didn’t come to the Metropolitan Ball but [her boyfriend] Kanye West did.”

The Metropolitan Ball is like the Oscars of fashion. If your boyfriend gets invited and you don’t, that means the fashion world really doesn’t want you.

Then, the moderator asked Rucci if he would ever dress Kim Kardashian for a red carpet event, and Rucci says, “No, I think that’s bastardizing yourself [as a designer].”

Kim can buy all the Ralph Rucci dresses she wants, because she can afford it, but she better not expect to get sent any free gowns by the designer.
