Sears Launches Kardashian Kollection Eyewear, Forgets Kardashian Kollection Failure

As if they needed another thing to shill, the Kardashian sisters are now in the eyewear business. That is, they’ve slapped their name on a collection of 9 glasses and 5 prescription sunglasses that run about $140 per frame (ie, the same a pair of Chanel or Gucci frames would cost). The collection will be sold at Sears Optical stores, and is actually made by Jupi Corp and Inspecs USA.

Bruno Schiavi, the president of Jupi, said of the partnership: ''It was only natural for eyewear to be the next product launch for the Kardashian Kollection brand. Our designs capture a wider clientele from those who are simple and structured in style to fashion risk takers. We're very proud and excited for this launch.''

Jupi’s portfolio is about as scattered as the Kardashians’. They started out with the Pocket Sock, an exceptionally uncomfortable sock you can store your keys in while you run. From there it was just a matter of days before they were making all of the Kardashian’s stuff, linens for Priscilla Presley, and the Biggest Loser Body shaping collection.

Sears, who has been scrabbling for cash as it closes stores en masse for the past few years, apparently has some form of short term memory loss when it comes to the major failure of the copyright infringing Kardashian Kollection clothing line. As president Daryl Hammett said:

''Sears Optical saw the great success of the Kardashian Kollection in Sears stores across the United States and wanted to expand the Kollection into eyewear…The Kardashian Kollection Eyewear will officially be launched in stores and all parties involved could not be happier with the outcome.''

Righto, Daryl. Because the KK line totally didn’t lose Sears money and get relegated to the clearance racks within a couple of months.
