Because rich people like owning things that were once touched or worn by rich and famous people, Lady Gaga and several other famous artists will be auctioning off former costume pieces and outfits.

Costumes worn by Gaga, Cyndi Lauper, Sir Mick Jagger and Kurt Cobain are some of the artists whose clothes will go in a massive memorabilia auction for Julien’s Auction house.

The Gaga item being auctioned is not her meat dress, nor is it the Kermit the frog ensemble, it’s not even those Alexander McQueen armadillo shoes, but don’t fret, the dress is still weird and not intended for pedestrian use.

The dress is a black structured gown worn by Gaga on the cover of Madame Figaro magazine in May. The dress features three-dimensional geometric shapes that paired nicely with the geometric cheek implants Gaga was wearing during that period.

The dress is expected to go for at least $10,000. I can’t even imagine who would buy such a dress. You probably can’t even sit down in it, which rules out like every option for places to wear the thing.

The designer of the black dress, Irina Shaposhnikova, said she was honored to have created a gown for Gaga.

“Lady Gaga is one of the most stylish and inspiration persons of this century. She looks amazing in this dress!”

Other items going on the auction block include a fake gun used by Gaga in her Born This Way video. Whoever gets their hands on that prop weapon can always say they’ve pulled Gaga’s metaphorical trigger. That is if you’ve got $6,000 to spare.

Other (normal) items for sale include a guitar signed by Bono, a stick figure sketch of Yoko Ono by John Lennon in 1967 and costumes worn by the Lennon and Paul McCartney in their movie “Help.” So basically, skinny ties, they will be auctioning off black skinny ties.

Costumes worn by Mick Jagger and Kurt Cobain will be on sale, though I don’t know what is so “costume-y” about Kurt Cobain wearing flannel. Cyndi Lauper’s dress from her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun will also be up for sale.

A green blazer worn by Tiger Woods from the Masters Green will also be auctioned. It is signed by the player, and rumor has it that anyone who wears it will curse their marriage. Kidding on that last part.

The auction will take place on December 1, 2011.
