Lady Gaga has just landed the most coveted magazine cover ever, the all-important September issue.
The September issue of Vogue magazine is like the Oscars of the magazine world. Each September the biggest magazines are rolled out, jam packed with advertisers. It’s the start of the season. It’s a big deal that Lady Gaga, of all people, landed this lauded cover.
Apparently, when Gaga covered Vogue for the first time in March 2011 (see photo above), it was the second best-selling issue of Vogue that year.
The 2011 September issue was covered by Kate Moss, a longtime Vogue fave and especially relevant cover-girl because she had just gotten married and the issue featured actual photos from her nuptials as shot by Mario Testino. A peek inside a supermodel wedding? Yes, please!
What will Gaga’s September issue entail? Well, we know that it’s already been photographed. It’s a wide shot because she looks crazy up close to show off her body, and she’s apparently wearing purple in the photo. Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott photographed the cover and accompanying editorial.
This cover is set to come at the same time as her first ever fragrance release. I believe it’s the same fragrance that Gaga has been teasing for a year, the one that she wants to “smell of blood and semen.”
Great cross promotion. I bet Vogue loves that they are promoting blood perfume. Anna Wintour would NEVER!
