Who Rocked the \"Safety Pin\" Frock: Lady Gaga vs. Elizabeth Hurley

Here’s a “Who Rocked the Frock?” fashion face off that spans generations.

Lady Gaga hit the Milanese streets this week looking very put together…by safety pins. The same golden safety pins that were fastened across Elizabeth Hurley 18 years ago to the London premiere of then-boyfriend Hugh Grant’s Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Gaga was daring enough to go back to where no women (but Hurley) has gone before with the vintage Versace which is a black floor-length silk and lycra blend that features a plunging neckline and revealing side slit at the hip. She paired the archival piece with grungy platform boots—the only key difference to when the English model and actress premiered the racy number nearly two decades ago.

As for who won, it’s not really a contest, is it? Hurley is the OG who gained so much praise and notoriety for “That Dress” it has since been forever chronicled and commemorated with a Wikipedia page. This just sounds like Gaga covering a song, not belting an original. What Versace is next? Jennifer Lopez’s iconic Grammy dress?

Do you agree? Did Hurley keep this barely-there ensemble together the best? Or should she step aside for Gaga?
