Last winter most Angelenos were still hanging on to their coveted jersey dresses, cinching them with belts of all shapes and colors. Women rocked the streets in their easy breezy dresses, which were not only comfortable, but hid many of our flaws ( even though we would never admit to them). However in a city like Los Angeles, trends come and go quicker than we change our hair color, and thanks to fashionistas like Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss, the new "it" dress is becoming shorter than ever. All summer long, empire waist and mod frocks flooded trendy boutiques, sending us all to the tanning salon and pilates.
Luckily, winter is right around the corner, and that means one thing -- tights. Not knee-length spandex from last year, but over the toe ones. Designers like Rachel Pally, Juicy Couture, and Theory are creating fabulous tights that complement these dresses perfectly, especially the really short ones. Just make sure to buy the right color hose for your garment, otherwise you will find yourself on the “don’t” list of some very popular weekly. The ever-popular Spanx by Sara Blakely has a fabulous selection and they do double duty. Their chic legwear not only looks great, but they also can make the derrière look more plump, and do wonders for silhouettes. Pantyhose is no longer just for church-going women, many young and hip women are wearing them, simply because they look good.
Don’t succumb to the evil warlords of “cold weather” and cover yourself in wool socks and mock-neck sweaters, keep your great summer tunic in the closet ( as long as it has some sort of sleeve) and throw a pair of great hose underneath. Just make sure you don’t buy any that come in a plastic egg-like case.
