Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer Collection Stolen

Marc Jacobs entire 46 look spring/summer 2012 collection was burgled from a train in Paris. The brand says that all pieces from the collection were stolen when the train stopped in Paris during a transfer.

Somewhere out there in France is a homeless person wearing a $900 floral print romper.

The samples were making their way to London for a European press day, but the brand sent out an email cancelling the press day that was supposed to occur yesterday.

“Dear all,” the email read, “The Marc Jacobs PR team is sorry to inform you that our press day tomorrow in the Marc Jacobs store is cancelled, due to the theft of the spring/summer 2012 collections during its transfer from Paris.”

However, the robber (is that what you call it in this situation?) is suspected of being someone who intends to recreate the designs in an attempt to counterfeit the Marc Jacobs brand and sell them on the black market.

This really takes the whole "B-tch stole my look" to new heights. No seriously, that b-tch actually burgled my clothes.

Jacobs described the collection as having the “feel of a Southern dance hall” and included drop-waist skirts, cellophane cocktail dresses and translucent and tinsel fabrics.

Who knows what this means for the future of the collection as the designs had not yet gone into production and those were the original samples that were stolen. It’s a shame, because it’s been heard that it was a great collection. When it debuted in NY Fashion Week, it was described as “a refreshing collection because it went its own way. The designer was unwilling to fall under the spell of fuchsia, cobalt blue and bright orange. This was a personal passion.”

Some are speculating that this is just made up and is an elaborate PR move for the company, but why would they want to falsify a scandal after the Dakota-Fanning-fiasco?

The Dakota-Fanning-fiasco, as I’ve coined it – feel free to spread it like wildfire- is referring to Fanning’s recent perfume ad for the Oh, Lola fragrance that has been banned in the UK for seemingly appearing to “sexualize a child.”

Even though Fanning is 17 in the ad, dissenters are saying she appears much younger and that the placement of the perfume bottle (in her lap) was too “sexually provocative.”

The British Advertising Standards Authority says this, “We noted that the model was holding up the perfume bottle which rested in her lap between her legs and we considered that its position was sexually provocative. We understood the model was 17 years old but we considered she looked under the age of 16. We considered that the length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality. Because of that, along with her appearance, we consider the ad could be seen to sexualize a child.”

So yeah, it’s a week of scandals for Marc Jacobs.
