Marc Jacobs to Be Creative Director of John Galliano?
August 12, 2011 by: PAULENE BROOKS

Rumor on the fashion block is that LVMH head honcho Bernard Arnault is in contract negotiations with Marc Jacobs to take over Christian Dior.
Marc Jacobs has a good reputation and they feel like he will do good for the label…you know ever since Galliano screwed up the label.
"I could have asked many other talented designers to do Dior, but it would not have been the same," Arnault told Tatler Asia. "Take Marc Jacobs, he has been a fantastic success at Vuitton, and he has a proximity to the Vuitton spirit, but I don't think it would have been a success with Jacobs at Dior and the other way around, if I had asked John [Galliano] to do Vuitton, it would not have worked. An essential ingredient in the success of the brand today is the real proximity of Galliano to the talent of Christian Dior."
Marc’s career is on fire! Not only does he have his own label, he is also the creative director for Louis Vuitton. He recently renewed his contract with Louis Vuitton so having 3 gigs might be a too much so there are rumors that he may choose one or the other.
Marc has been with Louis Vuitton for 15 years so maybe he’s ready for a change.
John Galliano really screwed up a few months back when he made anti-semitic comments while sitting at a café in Paris.
A French couple said that Galliano made the comments to them at a café, and when Galliano was taken by police for questioning, a sobriety test showed he was drunk at the time. After this incident, another woman came forward with similar claims.
And there was video of the incident, in which Galliano slurred, "I love Hitler .” He blamed it on his addiction to alcohol and prescription medicine.
Galliano was immediately released from his duties at Dior. Now, rumor has it that he might be signing a deal to design a collection for Topshop. Yes, it’s no Dior, but Topshop would be a good way to make a return to the fashion world.
There were rumors that Galliano spoke with Topshop’s boss-boss, Arcadia CEO Sir Philip Green, at Kate Moss’s wedding where the collaboration was hatched. However, Green has told Vogue UK, ”I saw John Galliano at Kate’s wedding last Friday. I did not discuss any business with him then, nor have I since.”
Aghh, typical evasive statement. Not gonna give up hope yet. If the Galliano/Topshop partnership does happen, it would be bigger than H&M’s hook-ups with Lanvin, Lagerfeld and McCartney and even Topshops collaborations with Kate Moss.
Do you guys think this would be a good step for Galliano to revamp his career?
