Who? Target, Neiman Marcus, 24 CFDA Designers.
What? The most epic retail-luxury fashion collaboration ever.
Where? Target and Neiman Marcus Stores.
When? December 2012.
Why? Because duh and obviously!
In what might be the most mind-boggling and internet-breaking event ever, Target and Neiman Marcus are teaming up with 24 top-designers for a 50 piece capsule collection hitting both retailers this December 1st, 2012.
Designers like Joseph Altuzarra, Marchesa, and Proenza Schouler will design 1-3 gift-type items from apparel to accessories to sporting goods to pet accessories. Quite frankly, I’d love to see what Oscar de la Renta does with a doggie bag.
This is the biggest designer collaboration in recent years.
“This collaboration is unlike anything Target has done before,” says CEO of Target Gregg Steinhafel, “Target and Neiman Marcus…[have] set the stage for a redefining moment in retail.”
Diane von Furstenberg calls it an “extraordinary designer collaboration.”
This could either be amazing, or a terrible chaos induced looting-and-rioting event a ‘la what happened when Missoni collaborated with Target. I think there were fatalities while people camped out for the fabulous zig-zag designs.
Both retailers will be selling the products and Women’s Wear Daily expect product to sell out “in a matter of several days, or at most two to three weeks.”
Here’s the full list of participating designers:
Alice + Olivia, Altuzarra, Band of Outsiders, Brian Atwood, Eddie Borgo, Judith Leiber, Lela Rose, Marchesa, Philip Crangi, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Rag & Bone, Robert Rodriguez, Rodarte, Skaist-Taylor, Thom Browne, Tracy Reese, Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Diane von Furstenberg, Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta and Tory Burch.
