Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have become such great designers, they were just named the best womenswear designers!
To quote the twin sisters during their brilliant turn as Michelle Tanner on “Full House”…“You got it, dude!”
The sisters took home the biggest prize at the annual Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) awards.
Their line The Row took home the award as the country’s top womenswear designers.
“I’d like to thank you – you,” Mary-Kate joked as she turned to her sister.
Their brand took home the top honors due in part to it’s “sense of discreet luxury.” And by that, they mean, super expensive. The Row is all ivory tank tops and sheer blazer, I’m not even sure, I think their demographic is exclusively themselves.
Other highlights from the CFDA Awards was when host Seth Myers (“SNL”) made fun of the dress that Marc Jacobs wore to the Met Gala. Myers even put the dress on and then using what he called “fashion terminology,” described the outfit as “breezy.”
Later when the usually-icy Anna Wintour presented an award she deadpanned, “As long as you’re not imitating me, we’re all good.”
Johnny Depp was honored as the year’s style icon, but couldn’t attend because he was filming “The Lone Ranger.” His friend John Waters accepted in his place and joked, “This man can’t look ugly no matter how hard he tries.”
