Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen Launch First Handbag This Week

The Olsen twins have come a long way since their straight-to-video films of the 90’s and tween clothing collection for Wal-Mart. The twosome have become seasoned designers with their luxury apparel and accessory brand, The Row.

Now Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are expanding their brand by launching a handbag line with The Row.

The bags are sleek and elegant and modern and the twins will stop by Barney’s New York this week to launch the line with the bags available for purchase in August.

After four years of The Row, this is their first handbag line, although the brand does have a sunglass collection. And yes, the sunglasses are both oversized and perfect for celebrities who want to wear them indoors to avoid being “seen.”

The nine styles of bags include a day tote, backpack, doctor bag, a classic shoulder bag and minaudieres.

Although the Olsen Twins themselves look like the love children of a gypsy and Nicole Ritchie, their line, The Row, is surprisingly not-homeless-person-looking. According to the Barney’s blog, the collection is “sleek and sophisticated. They blend old-world glamour with contemporary chic – a rare balance that has come to define The Row, season after season.”
