For reason's unknown, Michelle Obama was talking about her fashion choices at a White House press conference. Hey what about that national Jobs Act? Nope, we wanna know what Michelle Obama wears on casual Friday.
Michelle says she doesn't care about labels, she's a fan of less expensive retailers like H&M, Gap, Talbots and Target, but would rather wear clothes that are practical.
"I have to wear what I love. I have to feel good in it. My day-to-day wardrobe choices are very practical. I'm like, 'What's the temperature?' 'Am I going to be sitting in the grass?' 'Will I be playing with kids?' Can I sit on the floor?'" says the First Lady.
Those are the questions that Michelle Obama asks herself on a day-to-day basis? I'm sorry, but when did the First Lady become a homeless person. Why is she ever sitting in the grass? Are my tax dollars paying for that grass?
Michelle was speaking at a conference for her Lets Move! campaign which aims to get children to eat healthier and work out more. Naturally, the subject quickly turned from childhood obesity to Michelle's sartorial sense, because that's normal.
"It's like my music. Everything in my closet is something that I love, so that I can make choices based on what makes sense, knowing that I'm going to love whatever is it. I think that tends to be my philosophy," says Michelle.
She also wants to avoid any pesky paparazzi crotch shots, "If I bend over [I'm] worrying about that embarrassing shot," she joked. I can just read the headlines now, Michelle Obama has crotch shot getting out of P.Diddy's limo! Kidding. You know Michelle is a Jay-Z kind of girl.
More quotes about Michelle talking about her wardrobe, "If I'm comfortable in what I have on, that's second nature, and then all my attention can go to the people in the room that I'm with at the time, and I don't have to worry about whether something is riding up or whether my feet hurt. I don't want to waste anxiety on something as limited as clothes."
Michelle has also been a favorite of designer wunderkid Jason Wu, she wore one of his gowns to the Inaugural Ball.
"I try to be thoughtful about spreading the wealth: young designers," she said, "Mixing things up is important to me."
