The MTV Movie Awards is unlike most red carpet affairs. Don’t expect any use of words like “rose colored” “Elie Saab” or “fishtail gown,” the red carpet at the MTV movie awards is bright, fun, colorful, and full of mini dresses. It’s almost like Vegas fashion meets LA nightlife.

Emma Stone: Emma looked great in her Martin Grant top and skirt with Tiffany & Co. jewelry, a Fendi clutch, and Brian Atwood shoes. The black and white was very classic but the geometric bust and full skirt kept things edgy and fun.

Charlize Theron: Always classy, Charlize Theron was the most elegant on this carpet. She looked demure and effortless in a strapless Lanvin red knee length dress with small peplum at the waist.

Ellie Kemper: Ellie Kemper looks super adorable in this bright floral figure hugging dress and hot pink stilettos. She usually looks so demure and polished, it’s nice to see her wearing something youthful!

Kristen Stewart: Looking like she’s about to topple over her heels (they were barely even four inches, just saying) the actress wore a Guishem metallic, neon purple and yellow minidress and I’m already having flashbacks from that terrible outfit she wore at this years Met Gala. Fashion miss!

Emma Watson: Rocking a cute bob haircut, the actress wore a Brood dress and strappy Tabitha Simmons shoes. The dress had a high neckline and a sleek racer-back and a nearly-bubble skirt.

Jessica Biel: Justin Timberlake’s future wife wore a white minidress with billowy sleeves and what appears to be made from crotchet fabric. It was very maude, but a tiny bit grand-ma ish. It’s hard to pull off a knit look on the red carpet.

Nina Dobrev: I know the MTV Movie Awards are like the big brother to the Nickelodeon kids Choice Awards, but Nina’s outfit was a little too casual for my tastes. She paired a white one-shouldered top with a high-waisted tulle yellow skirt and a thick black belt.

Elizabeth Banks: Nearly unrecognizable, Elizabeth Banks wore a Elie Saab jumpsuit with sheer paneling on the bust and sleeves. She styled her hair in a high-bun. I thought she was Jessie J or some unknown Icelandic pop star.

Shailene Woodley: Shailene wore a dramatic backless black halter-top with plunging neckline paired with black slacks. She dresses a little too old, but then again, tall girls like Woodley are the only ones who can rock a pantsuit.

Paris Hilton: The hotel heiress wore a gunmetal mini dress with sparkly rhinestone details on the neckline and skirt. Her dress was so heavily beaded it looked liked it was made of chainmail. Ready for battle, Paris?

Ciara: Rocking her now-signature ombre strands, the R&B star wore a fuchsia long sleeved gown with a plunging neckline and a revealing leg slit on a dress that was already pretty short. She paired the dress with cream-colored Louboutins.

Leighton Meester: The Gossip Girl star wore shorts, a pale printed tank top, and a sleeveless ivory cardigan. I’m okay with shorts on the red carpet, but something about this screamed “middle aged woman in the Hamptons

Julianne Hough: What is she wearing? It’s like a sparkly black crop top with a ruffly mini skirt? Or you could call it an ugly winter formal dress with a belly cut-out, yikes! Ryan Seacrest? You let your woman leave the house like this?

Brooke Hogan: Still dressing like a cross between a stripper and a Vegas cocktail waitress, the famous wrestling offspring wore a sparkly mini dress with a severe side cutout. It was like a shimmery bra paired with a tube top worn as a skirt.
