Banana Republic, producer of collections that are like grown-up Disney princess costumes (you can dress just like Mad Men’s Betty and Peggy and Joan, and next Halloween you can look just like Princess Myagkaya or Anna Karenina!), has hired Narciso Rodriguez as its design advisor.

The upscale shop’s first line under Narciso will be launched during the A/W 2013-14 season.

The last Banana Republic collaborator was Janie Bryant, Mad Men costume designer, who designed their, surprise, Mad Men Collection.

Narciso’s role as an advisor was created for him, and will pair him with Simon Kneen, the brand’s creative director, to guide Banana’s design and product development team.

He’s revered in the upper echelons of the fashion world, having designed the dress Michelle Obama wore to celebrate Barack’s presidential election victory in 2008 and being described by Anna Wintour .

Never fear, though: Rodriguez’s eponymous line will still go on through his advisorship at Banana Republic (and will still include shoes!). The collabo is only Rodriguez’s most recent—he also just signed on to design an Istanbul-inspired collection for Kohl’s. Yes, Kohl’s, yes he still has a runway line, and no, nothing is sacred anymore.
