Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj Become Barbie Dolls

It's about time. Nicki Minaj has only been referring to herself as a Barbie, for like, ever. The two pop stars will now be immortalized in Mattel plastic.

According to TMZ, Mattel has begun production on one Nicki Minaj and one Katy Perry Barbie doll, meaning they wont churn out various Nicki and Katy dolls, so don't expect "Nurse Katy" or "Horseback riding Nicki" as the company is so wont to do with it's regular Barbies.

Nicki's doll will include "every signature detail, right down to the tattoo on Nicki's left arm." Do you hear that? That's the sound of Sophie Grace and Rosie screaming hysterically and Ellen Degeneres finding a reason to invite them back on her show.

The one-of-a-kind Nicki doll will be available beginning Dec.7 where it will be auctioned off online, with proceeds benefitting the Project Angel Food organization. Katy Perry's doll is expected to release soon after. However, both dolls should have the same matching pink hair. Well, Nicki's will be an awesome bright pink weave and Katy Perry's will be a bad fading pink dye job with dark roots.

A Barbie Spokesperson tells Billboard that Nicki Minaj is perfect to get the Mattel treatment, because Nicki likes Barbies so much.

"Barbie is obviously a pop culture icon. She's been in the spotlight for over 50 years, and strikes that chord with girls of all ages in terms of being representative of the times. And Nicki is a big part of pop culture and also huge within the fashion industry, as well as a big Barbie fan," says Stefani Yocky, a Barbie spokeswoman, "It's really exciting for us that she's been so generous to allow us to create this one-of-a-kind doll to support such an important cause."

When will these "Barbies" get their "Ken" dolls? Can we expect Drake and Russell Brand dolls?

Other celebs that have been turned into Barbies for the special charity auction in past years include Carol Channing, Rachel Zoe and Janet Jackson.

Barbie has been making celebrity barbies for years. Some celebs who've been barbie-i-fied include Barbara Streisand, 80's Cher, Kate Winslet in "Titantic," Liz Taylor, teenage Britney Spears, Heidi Klum, Lucille Ball, Hilary Clinton, and Beyonce to name a few.

No word on if the girls will continue their collaboration with Mattel after these one-off dolls for the auction, but Nicki's team is working on expanding the Nicki brand.

"With her team, we're all working and in discussions on a fragrance deal," says one of her agents at Creative Artists Agency, "We're also in discussions with different apparel companies as well. We're expecting that will make her a mainstream brand."
