Following the trend of retailer fashion collaborations, jcpenney has just announced a new twist on the genre.

Nina Garcia, Fashion Director of Marie Claire magazine, judge on “Project Runway” and New York Times best-selling author, has just signed on to become jcpenney’s resident Style Voice and fashion collection curator.

Garcia will work with the company’s merchandise and design teams to offer trend direction and will curate the designer collaborations. Garcia herself will also be available for style advice in a variety of in-store activations, digital initiatives and social media chats throughout the year.

“I am thrilled to partner with jcpenney as their resident Style Voice during such an exciting time for the company,” says Garcia, “Fashion and personal style are always evolving, and I’m excited to collaborate on a variety of amazing projects with the incredible team at jcpenney.”

Nina’s other show “Project Runway” returns for its 10th season tonight on Lifetime and Nina tells USA Today what she hopes to see from this season’s contestants, “For me, when they can use fantasy and creativeness. That’s when I think that we get the best. When we can see how they can go far with their creativity.”

Nina also dished on some of her fashion donts! This is one current trend she cannot stand!

“The one that I’m hating at the moment are those platform shoes with spikes. I’m over it,” says Nina.
