Project Runway's Nina Garcia: Crocs are NOT Okay

If Crocs aren’t okay, Crocs with socks are blasphemy.

Nina Garcia, the Marie Claire fashion director and Project Runway judge has confirmed what all of us have always thought: You don’t wear crocs.

“No one over the age of 10 should buy Crocs — unless you are Mario Batali,” Garcia said.

And I’m pretty sure she’s just letting him slide because she wants to get into Osteria Mozza.

What’s so bad about them? They’re made of rubber with holes in them, that’s what. You might as well wear cheap condoms on your feet.

While she’s giving out fashion advice, Nina has some more practical style tips for the holidays.

“My rule during the holidays is if it sparkles and shines and makes you feel fancy, wear it!” she advises.

But don’t start wrapping yourself in tinsel just yet.

“Coco Chanel gave us the best wisdom here,” Nina continues. “Before leaving the house, a lady should stop, look in the mirror, and remove one piece of jewelry.”

Okay, that’s fine for a lady. But what about holiday hos ready to paaaaartaaaay?

“If you are wondering if it’s too much, it probably is,” Nina insists.

And because our economy is still in the crapper, Nina has some budget-friendly shopping advice.

“I was at Target last week and went crazy,” she said. “I found the cutest charcoal sequined clutch for $17! It has a strap to wear cross-body or you can tuck the strap inside — voilà! Two different looks.”
